Malayalam star Unni Mukundan on Monday (May 5) announced that he is all set to make his directorial debut with a superhero film. The project, which is currently in its pre-production stages, will have a screenplay written by writer-director Midhun Manuel Thomas.
Unni announced the news on his Instagram account by sharing a picture of himself, standing in front of a gorgeous display of superhero action figures.
“The kid in me grew up believing in legends. Drawn to stories of courage, sacrifice, and magic. I found my heroes not just in books, movies, folk stories, tiny action figures but also in my dreams. Growing up in the era of superheroes, often dismissed as mythical, make-believe, or too far-fetched. I ended up being a thorough day dreamer. For me these SuperHeroes were hope in motion. They made me feel Heroic. Their act of heroism mirrored in my dreams. That kid, never really grew up. And more importantly, he never gave up dreaming. Today, he takes a quiet, proud step forward, to tell a story, he’s carried in his heart for years. Yep, I’m directing my first feature film. A superhero story. One that’s my own,” wrote the Marco star.
“It’s a dream taking shape — built with love, wonder, and everything that once made me look up at the sky and believe that the sky isn’t the limit,” he added.
Other details regarding the plot, cast and rest of the crew remain unknown. The untitled project is produced by Gokulam Gopalan under his Sree Gokulam Movies banner. Unni further said that the film will go on floors next year, once he gets done with his upcoming film commitment in Telugu. Details regarding Unni’s Telugu film are also unclear at the moment.
