Veteran Tamil actor Subramani, popularly known as Supergood Subramani, passed away at the age of 58 on Saturday (May 10). The actor, suffering from cancer, was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chennai.
Subramani began his career in films as an assistant director, but found his niche in acting. Over the years, he has acted in several notable films such as Partner, Sarpatta Parambarai, Kavalthurai Ungal Nanban, Soorarai Pottru, Rajini Murugan and Azhagarsamyin Kuthirai.
However, Subramani will be best remembered for his performances in Pariyerum Perumal, Kaala, Maharaja, Pisasu, Jai Bhim, and Vaanam Kottattum.
Interestingly, his long association with the production banner Super Good Films earned him the nickname ‘Supergood.’
As per reports, Subramani was battling Stage 4 cancer and was undergoing intensive treatment at the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, Chennai. However, despite the intensive care, the actor succumbed to the disease on Saturday.
Subramani’s death comes just days after the actor’s family sought financial aid to help cover his medical expenses.
Earlier today, many prominent actors, producers and colleagues of Subramani, including producer RB Choudhury of Super Good Films, paid their tributes and expressed their condolences to the late actor’s family at his residence in West Mambalam, Chennai.
Supergood Subramani was cremated this afternoon. He is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son. Fans and well-wishers have been expressing their condolences on social media.
