The trailer for Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan’s upcoming film and a spiritual follow-up to Taare Zameen Par (2007), was released on May 13. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on June 20, 2025.

Directed by RS Prasanna and produced under the Aamir Khan Productions banner, the film follows the story of Gulshan, a former basketball coach played by Khan. After a public incident and legal trouble, the character is assigned by the court to coach a team of players on the autism spectrum. The trailer introduces Gulshan as a difficult and insensitive figure who is gradually pushed to engage with his team in meaningful ways.

Aamir Khan has described his role as a sharp contrast to his character in Taare Zameen Par. “In this film, my character’s name is Gulshan, but his personality is exactly opposite to Nikumbh’s. He is not sensitive at all,” Khan said during a fan interaction earlier this year.

Genelia Deshmukh plays Gulshan’s love interest, while the basketball team is portrayed by a group of newcomers including Aroush Datta, Samvit Desai, Ayush Bhansali, and Simran Mangeshkar, among others.

The music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, with lyrics written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Sitaare Zameen Par marks Aamir Khan’s return to a lead role after a brief break from acting, and is expected to follow a socially grounded storyline in line with his previous work.
