The much-anticipated Billa Ranga Bhasha, starring Kiccha Sudeep and directed by Anup Bhandari, has officially gone on floors as of April 16. The makers dropped the film’s first look, featuring Sudeep in a mysterious, snow-clad setting, with a burning bundle reflected in his headgear. Shot on a grand scale, the pan-Indian film is set for a multi-language release, including Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi, and is bankrolled by K Niranjan Reddy and Chaithanya Reddy under the banner Primeshow entertainment.

The makers announced the project on September 02, 2024. Primeshow Entertainment had previously bankrolled the Telugu blockbuster Hanuman (2024), starring Tejja Sajja and directed by Prasanth Verma. Sudeep is collaborating with Anup after the action-adventure Vikrant Rona (2022).

Billa Ranga Baasha was originally announced with a concept video that introduced the story set in 2209 AD, with images of the Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower, and the Taj Mahal all destroyed, and one man seems to have conquered everything.

In an interview with The Hindu, Sudeep had said that Billa Ranga Baasha was planned as his first project with Anup. “However, we didn’t know if we could pull off the scale of the film. So, we first made Vikrant Rona just to understand if we were capable of making a huge movie,” Sudeep had said in December, 2024, ahead of the release of his action drama Max.

The actor added that Billa Ranga Baasha will be ten times of Vikrant Rona in terms of action and adventure. Meanwhile, Sudeep is basking in the success of Max, directed by Vijay Karthikeya.

Also starring Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Ilavarasu and Uggram Manju, the movie released in theatres on December 25, 2025. The Hindu review of the film said, “Max is a star vehicle with admirable experiments from the makers. With Vikrant Rona and Max, Sudeep has deviated from traditional commercial films. The big stars of Kannada cinema are seeking change, and that’s a good sign.”
