‘House of the Dragon’ starts filming for third season

Filming for the third season of the HBO show House of the Dragon has begun in the United Kingdom. The new season will feature actors Tommy Flanagan and Dan Fogler as Ser Roderick Dustin and Ser Torrhen Manderly. They join show regulars Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, Tom Bennett, Kieran Bew, Kurt Egyiawan, Freddie Fox, Clinton Liberty, Gayle Rankin and Abubakar Salim.

The third season is expected to be released in 2026.

The show’s first season debuted on HBO in 2022 with 10 episodes, and the second season in 2024 had eight. The latest season is also said to span eight episodes. Following the release of the finale of Season 2, showrunner Ryan Condal revealed that the show will last for four seasons.

While remaining tight-lipped about the plot details of the new season, Condal promised that the intensity of the storytelling will significantly ramp up. The new season will most likely feature the significant Battle of the Gullet.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, the show is set 200 years prior to the events of Game of Thronesand narrates the story of House Targaryen. Currently, the showrunner is Ryan Condal.
