Hitori Gotoh aka Bocchi features in the official announcement poster for ‘Bocchi the Rock!’ Season 2

A second season of the hit anime BOCCHI THE ROCK! is officially in production, as announced during a special live event in Tokyo. Fans of the series, which follows the socially anxious but musically talented Hitori Gotoh, have eagerly awaited news of its continuation. A new teaser illustration by key animator Keimon Oda was also revealed, depicting Bocchi caught off guard by a group of reporters.

Animation studio CloverWorks will return to produce the second season, with some key staff changes. Yuusuke Yamamoto, previously the assistant director for Season 1, will step into the role of director, having previously worked on Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and Oshi no Ko. Erika Yoshida will handle the scripts, while Keimon Oda and Kerorira will provide character designs. Further details, including a release date, have yet to be announced.
During the event, Japanese rock band Asian Kung-Fu Generation also joined in celebrating the announcement of BOCCHI THE ROCK! Season 2. Known for their influence on anime soundtracks and their connection to the series, the band’s longtime illustrator, Yusuke Nakamura, contributed a special artwork featuring Kessoku Band in his signature style.
BOCCHI THE ROCK! is based on the manga by Aki Hamazaki and follows Hitori Gotoh, a shy and introverted high school girl who dreams of performing in a band. Despite her incredible guitar skills, she struggles with social interactions and making friends. Her life changes when Nijika Ijichi, the drummer of Kessoku Band, invites her to join the group, setting her on a journey of personal growth and musical success.
