Actor Babil Khan on Monday (May 5) reactivated his Instagram account and addressed the controversy surrounding a video he posted online on Sunday morning. Resharing the statement his family released last evening, Babil restated that his earlier video was misinterpreted and that he was trying to show support to his peers — Ananya Panday, Shanaya Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav and Arijit Singh. “I genuinely don’t have the energy to indulge more but I do this as responsibility for my peers that I truly admire,” he wrote.

For the unversed, Babil on Sunday shocked netizens after he broke down on Instagram stories and called Bollywood ‘the fakest industry.’ The Logoutstar also named the aforementioned celebrities, which added to speculations. Further, the actor deactivated his Instagram account, leaving several wondering if Babil is going through a mental health crisis. On Sunday evening, Babil’s family and team issued a statement clarifying that the video had been ‘misinterpreted’ and that the actor was having a difficult day.

Babil reactivating his Instagram and clarifying the video has come as a sigh of relief for his fans. Further, the actors who were inadvertently pulled into this social media storm reshared Babil’s story and wished their best to the actor. Taking to her Instagram stories, Ananya Panday wrote, ”Only love and good energy for you Babil, always in ur corner.”

Actor Siddhant Chaturvedi, on the other hand, shared video clips of the times he spent with Babil. In another story, he slammed all those who fuelled the rumours about Babil’s video. “I usually never engage in sh*t written about me and my colleagues, but this one’s personal. So to all the Redditors, Gossip columns & media portals of the internet. Stop. We love to hate and hate to love, is this what we’ve come to? Stop looking for Drama here. All of us are working hard to bring drama to you on your screens. Shayad wahan thodi kami reh gai hogi ki aap hamari neeji zindagi mein wo dhoondhne lage ho? Koshish jaari hai hamari taraf se, Aur aap bhi Koshish karein ki koi bhi judgement dene se pehle ek baar soch lein (Maybe it was lacking a bit there that you started looking for it in our personal lives? We’re still trying from our end, and we hope you also try to think once before passing any judgment). Peace out,” he wrote.

Raghav Juyal and Adarsh Gourav also shared Babil’s story and expressed their support for the actor. Meanwhile, in another story, Babil reshared a clip of his late father, actor Irrfan Khan, from his 2016 film Madaari. Just last week, Babil remembered his late father on his fifth death anniversary. “With you, without you. Life goes on, With me, without me. Soon I’ll be there. With you, not without you. And we will run together, and fly, Drink from waterfalls, pink not blue. I will hug you so tight, and I will cry, Then we’ll laugh, just like we used to. I miss you,” he wrote.

Babil slams filmmaker Sai Rajesh

Earlier today, filmmaker Sai Rajesh, who was set to remake his 2023 Telugu film Babyin Hindi with Babil, criticised the actor after the latter posted his statement clarifying the videos he had posted on Sunday. In the now-deleted Instagram story, Sai wrote, “To Babil Khan’s team. Do you really think we’re that naive to just walk away silently? What kind of attitude are we being subjected to? It feels like only those whose names were mentioned in his video deserve respect — and the rest of us are just fools for standing by him all this while?

“If you’re making them feel valued just because he gave them a shoutout, and ignoring the rest of us — then yes, we do deserve an apology for how things have been handled. I genuinely wanted to stand by him — even until an hour ago. But if you’re taking us for granted, that stops here. These sympathy games won’t work on us anymore. A sincere apology is the least you owe us. Say it, and let’s move on,” he added.

The post invited Babil’s wrath as the actor lashed out at Sai Rajesh, stating that the filmmaker put him through a lot of pain and suffering to play his role in the Baby remake. “You really broke my heart. After everything I’ve given to you. 2 years of my life, complete physical atrocity to my body just so I can do justice to his character, I gave him my soul, rejected everything that came in my way for 2 years, anything and everything he needed, for 500 days of my life.”

“Not to mention, the pain and the suffering I put in my soul, lived in filth just to make sure sir @sairazesh is happy with the character. It’s okay now. I’ll let my work speak. Goodbye. Man, I had bugs in my beard because he needed that in the character. I gave him my laughter while I held back my tears. I slit my f****** wrist for him,” wrote an emotional Babil. Later, these comments were also deleted.
