Brad Pitt is set to lead The Riders, an upcoming A24 feature directed by Conclavefilmmaker Edward Berger. The film adapts Tim Winton’s acclaimed 1995 novel, which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize, and will follow a man and his daughter on a haunting journey across Europe as they search for his missing wife.

Screenwriter David Kajganich, known for his work on Bones and All, is adapting the novel for the screen. He will also produce the film alongside Berger (via his Nine Hours banner), Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner, and Dede Gardner under Plan B Entertainment. Veteran filmmaker Ridley Scott is backing the project through his Scott Free Productions, with Michael Pruss also producing.
Production is slated to begin in early 2026, with filming set across multiple European locations.
This project reunites Berger, Kajganich, and Scott Free, who previously collaborated on the AMC series The Terror. Berger, currently one of Hollywood’s most in-demand directors, recently made waves with Conclave and has wrapped production on Netflix’s upcoming mystery drama The Ballad of a Small Player.

Pitt, meanwhile, continues his strong run of roles. He was most recently seen opposite George Clooney in the Apple action-comedy Wolfs, and will next appear in the high-octane racing film F1, also backed by Apple.
