Hrithik Roshan is all set to debut as a director with Krrish 4. According to Variety, the actor, who has spearheaded all three previous blockbusters in the series from Koi… Mil Gaya to Krrish 3, will star and direct the fourth film in the superhero franchise. Yash Raj Films, in collaboration with Rakesh Roshan, will produce the film.

“I’m passing the baton of the director of Krrish 4 to my son, Hrithik Roshan, who has lived, breathed, and dreamt about this franchise since its inception with me,” said Rakesh Roshan. He added, “Hrithik has a clear and a very ambitious vision of taking Krrish’s journey forward with the audience for the next decades. I couldn’t be more prouder to see him wear the director’s hat for a film that means the world to us as a family.”

Talking about his collaboration with Aditya Chopra, who helms Yash Raj Films, for the upcoming movie, Rakesh Roshan noted, “It brings me so much joy to see someone like Adi as the producer of Krrish 4. It was he who convinced Hrithik to sit in the director’s chair,” he revealed. “Adi and Yash Raj Films have the knowledge, understanding and technological might to produce this film and add great value to this project.”

Speaking to Variety Roshan said, “Hrithik and Adi coming together as a producer-director pair with me behind them is a rare and deliciously creative combination,” Rakesh Roshan continued. “I’m sure they will turn Krrish 4 into a theatrical experience that has never been made in India. The dream is to make India proud globally with a larger than life experience like Krrish 4.”

The superhero franchise was kick-started with Koi… Mil Gaya (2003), a sci-fi drama about a boy with developmental disabilities who gains superhuman abilities after befriending an alien. The story continued with Krrish (2006), where his son, Krishna, discovers his inherited powers and adopts the masked vigilante persona of Krrish. The third installment, Krrish 3 (2013), expanded the universe with high-tech villains, genetic mutations, and large-scale battles.

Production of the fourth installment is said to commence in 2026.
